The Homecoming Executive Council comprises of 21 student leaders & the amazing Homecoming Adviser-Amy White that work year round to collaborate with the entire campus and community to prepare for and plan the grand Homecoming Week-a week when our campus and community celebrate being a Hawkeye. All members on Homecoming Council have their own responsibilities to work with different stakeholders to make this tradition such a success.

Hi! My name is Amy White and I am one of the advisors for Homecoming Executive Council. I have worked at the University of Iowa since 2011 in both the Residence Education department as a Hall Coordinator and more recently in the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership, as the Supervising Coordinator for Student Activities and Programming, BUT I have lived the “Hawkeye Way” every day of my life, growing up a Hawkeye! I am originally from Sgt. Bluff, Iowa and attended Wayne State College in Wayne, NE for my Bachelors and Masters degrees. It was a pretty amazing experience to have the opportunity to work at my dream school, and here I am today, living life as a Hawkeye! This is the second year I have been able to help advise the Homecoming Executive Council, and I am very excited to step behind the scenes and see how the Hawkeye spirit comes to life. Rachel Green is a junior from Chicago studying Journalism and Mass Communication, with minors in Spanish and Sport and Recreation Management and a certificate in Writing. This is her second year on Council, as she served as the Honors Director for Homecoming 2016. In addition to Homecoming Council, Rachel is also involved in Dance Marathon leadership, the online magazine Her Campus, and in the On Iowa! program. Shelby Vroman is a sophomore from Ankeny, IA studying Business Analytics and Management and Organizations with a certificate in Sustainability. This is her second year on Homecoming Council, as she served as the Alumni Events Director for Homecoming 2016. After working with alumni she has decided to switch over to students as the Parade Director to get more student involvement and participation in the traditions of Homecoming. In addition to Homecoming, she also is a member of the Delta Zeta sorority, Women in Business, and as a Captain for the On Iowa! Program. She can't wait to start planning this year's Homecoming events and hopes to make them bigger and better than ever!

Hira Mustafa is studying Economics and Ethics & Public Policy. In her free time, she enjoys improvising with her team, Paperback Rhino, or making YouTube videos (lookwhoshira). She has had seven cats in her lifetime, her favorite of which is her Ragdoll, Prince Harry. She is a Resident Hall Assistant, and a member of several student organizations including: University of Iowa Student Government, Women in Business, Student Advisory Committee on Sexual Misconduct, the Walk-It-Out Multicultural Fashion Show and Homecoming Executive Council.

Devin Francis is a sophomore majoring in African American Studies on the Pre Law track along with pursuing a minor in American Sign Language. This is her second year on the Homecoming Executive Council, following her position as the 2016 Faculty and Staff Initiatives Director. In addition to Homecoming, Devin is involved with the Iowa Edge Student Organization, the Black Student Union, the OnIOWA! program, and is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. Erin Nolan is excited to be Homecoming’s FSL Sweepstakes Director. As a Senior she studies Enterprise Leadership with a certificate in Leadership. On top of her studies she is also a part of University of Iowa’s Dance Club and is a CLA representative. Erin is very excited to be a part of Homecoming Executive Council to help the traditions of Homecoming live on!

Caleb Smith is a sophomore from Oswego, IL studying Political Science, with a certificate in Leadership Studies and a minor in Human Relations. This is his first year on the Council and he is very excited about it! In addition to Homecoming Council, Caleb is also involved with Orientation Services as a Hawkeye Guide, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and works within Residence Education at Petersen Hall. I am a sophomore here at the University of Iowa and my major is Ethics and Public Policy with a minor in Criminology Law and Justice. Currently I am working on my event planning certificate as well. Katherine Vega is from Chicago, Illinois majoring in Journalism and Mass Communication with 2 minors in Spanish and Communication Studies. Apart from being the Spirit Director for Homecoming Council, Katherine is also a member in Her Campus Iowa, S.T.A.R, and PRSSA. She hopes to create a marvelous homecoming atmosphere this year by combining her creativity and Hawkeye pride.

Denise Cheeseman is a sophomore from Minnetonka, Minnesota studying English and Creative Writing with a Sustainability certificate. This is her first year on Council and she is so excited to serve as the first ever Sustainability Director and to help establish Homecoming's commitment to the environment. On campus, she also works with the University of Iowa Environmental Coalition, the Center for Conferences, and the Honors Fellows Project. When she's not in meetings or doing homework, Denise can be found reading, cooking, or hugging trees.

Angie Benda is a Sophomore from Madison, Wisconsin. She is pursuing a double major in Psychology and Political Science. In addition to her involvement on Homecoming Council, she is a member of Campus Activities Board, Students to Assist Recruitment, and a volunteer for Food Pantry at Iowa. In her free time you can find her at Hawkeye sporting events cheering on the Hawks. She is ecstatic to help put on memorable Homecoming!
