
Feel free to run or walk the United Way 5K on Sunday, October 4th! Our mission is to raise money for the United Way of Johnson County which researches community needs and works with local government entities, human service organizations, community leaders, donors, and service organizations to address pressing community needs.The race, beginning at historic City Park, will take participants on a route throughout campus and the surrounding community. Registration is open to the general public and forms can be found at www.uiowagreeks.com. All mailed registration forms and payments must be received by Friday, October 2nd. Race day registration is also available.
Registration Details:
$15 for UI students in advance, $20 for race day registration
$20 for non-UI students in advance, $25 for race day registration
*Registration fee includes a T-shirt and race packet that can be picked up after the race

Come for the competition, come for the fun, as students take over the Pentacrest lawn to play one of the largest Capture the Flag games the University of Iowa's campus has ever seen. Don't forget to dress in dark clothing and tennis shoes. But most importantly, bring your friends and competitive spirit.

Join the University of Iowa Homecoming Council directly after the parade on the East Lawn of the Pentacrest for a display of Hawkeye Spirit like no other! Join in the fight song with the Spirit Squad, Hawkeye Marching Band and your fellow Hawkeyes! You’ll get to meet this year’s Homecoming Court, and see the coronation of our new King and Queen. Join us, as we culminate a week of amazing Black and Gold memories!

The University of Iowa is proud to announce that The Tempations will be playing for the 2009 Homecoming Concert. The Temptations are an American vocal group that achieved fame as one of the most successful acts to record for Motown Records. The group's repertoire has included, at various times during its five-decade career, R&B, doo-wop, funk, disco, soul, and contemporary music.
Augustana, a group of four musicians, fronted by emotional and powerful lead vocalist, will be co-headling the show! This free event will be held on the Pentacrest following the parade.

Beginning at 4pm before the parade, UI friends and family can stop by the 'Alumni Welcome Tent' for free drinks, food, and a variety of family-friendly activities when alumni update their email address with the UI Alumni Association. UI student volunteers will host face painting, hand out balloons, and other games for our future Hawkeyes.

Weaving its way through downtown Iowa City, the Homecoming parade is a staple event for any and all community members interested in getting infused with the Homecoming spirit! Enter a float in the parade, or come to watch the amazing displays of spirit make their way through downtown! Wear your Black and Gold, because as we say at Homecoming 2009, “Black and Gold Never Gets Old!”
